Available from stock at Damen Song Cam Shipyard in Vietnam, the shipbuilder expects to deliver the vessel just seven weeks after the contract signing on 12th May.

FinanceUK ferry operator P&O Ferries (POF) has filed its much-delayed accounts for the year 2023 with Companies House in London, nine months late. The accounts will shortly be available for the public to scrutinise. However, details of the accounts for 2023 have already been accessed by ITV News and the newspaper The Guardian.
Ro-roP&O Ferries will close its last route from the east coast UK port of Teesport, to Zeebrugge in Belgium, at the end of July. The ferry operator said it had taken this decision so that it can focus on more strategic North Sea activities.

FerryOn 4 July, under the iconic “Lanterna” in Genoa, GNV ORION was officially named. It is the 26th next-generation ferry of GNV, part of the MSC Group. Moored alongside its sister ship GNV POLARIS, ORION is the second vessel delivered to the company as part of a fleet-wide modernisation and expansion plan, which will see the arrival of six more next-generation, LNG-powered ferries by 2030.
PortThe Swedish Government has tasked the Swedish Transport Administration with taking measures to maintain continued rail ferry traffic between Sweden and Germany until 2031. Stena Line’s two vessels SKÅNE and MECKLENBURG-VORPOMMERN are the world’s largest rail ferries and operate on the route between Trelleborg and Rostock.
FerryRemontowa Shipbuilding S.A. launched the BJARKØY for Torghatten Nord, a 63.65-metre hybrid-powered passenger-car ferry for the Stornes-Bjørnerå connection with a capacity for 50 vehicles and 149 passengers. Delivery is planned for the first quarter of 2026.

Ro-roCLdN’s second 234-metre and 8,000 lane metre capacity hybrid G9e vessel, LEONINE, has embarked on her maiden voyage from the Far East to Europe. LEONINE is expected to arrive in Europe at the end of the summer.
Ro-roGodby Shipping announced that the following existing contracts have been extended: the firm time charter for MISTRAL with Sea-Cargo has been extended until 31 October 2025, with the option until December 2025 remaining unchanged, and BALTIC BRIGHT’s time charter for Holmen has been extended until 31 December 2026.
The Grimaldi Group has decided to carry out a new capital increase in its Spanish subsidiary Trasmed, worth EUR 50 million. The decision aims to strengthen the company's financial position and reduce its debt load. With this transaction, Trasmed's share capital will reach EUR 347 million.
FerryWashington State Ferries’ (WSF) three new 160-vehicle capacity hybrid-electric ferries will be built by Florida’s Eastern Shipbuilding Group, following the shipbuilder’s bid of USD 714.5 million being selected.
FerryÖresundslinjen’s ferries between Helsingborg and Helsingør have had a strong and busy first half of 2025. More travellers mean that the total number of passengers continues to grow on the Öresund ferries. Öresundslinjen was formed when Molslinjen acquired ForSea two years ago, and from the outset, it was a desire of the new owners to develop the popular and well-visited ferry line between Helsingborg and Helsingør.
FerryThe scheduled passenger ferry service that links Finland and Estonia celebrate its 60th anniversary on 7 July. The route between Helsinki and Tallinn has become one of the busiest in the world, and that growth is expected to continue in the future. Viking Line has sailed to Estonia since 1989 and is now planning the world’s biggest electric car ferry for the route.
Ship traffic in shallow areas, such as harbours, can trigger significant methane emissions through their movements in the water. This is shown by a Chalmers-led study where researchers observed methane emissions twenty times higher in shipping lanes compared to nearby undisturbed areas. Despite methane being a greenhouse gas 27 times more potent than carbon dioxide, these emissions are often overlooked with current measurement methods.
FerryAS Tallink Grupp transported 1,488,128 passengers with its vessels in the second quarter of 2025, marking a 2.5% increase compared to the same period last year. In June alone, passenger numbers rose by 4.9%, reaching 598,977. The primary driver of this growth was the Estonia-Finland route.

FerryCORSICA linea announced the launch of the E-Flexer ro-pax vessel CAPU ROSSU, with commissioning scheduled for June 2026. The second new LNG-powered vessel of the Company destined for Marseille-Corsica service was launched on 30 June 2025 at the Chinese shipyard CMI Jinling in Weihai under the supervision of Stena RoRo.

The Lagos Ferry Safety Conference, co-hosted by Interferry, the Maritime Organisation for West and Central Africa (MOWCA), and the Lagos Waterways Authority (LASWA), successfully concluded last week in Lagos, Nigeria. The two-day event marked a significant step forward for regional maritime safety. A major highlight was the signing of a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Interferry and MOWCA.
FerrySPIRIT OF TASMANIA IV has now departed the Port of Leith, where it has been docked since December last year, for the 14,857-nautical-mile voyage to Hobart. The 212-metre-long, 48,000gt vessel will travel to Hobart via Gibraltar, Cape Verde Islands (off the western coast of Africa), Cape Town in South Africa, Port Louis in Mauritius, and Fremantle in Western Australia.
