Arab Bridge Maritime acquires RoPax ferry from Trasmediterranea
FerryTrasmediterranea has sold the freight-oriented RoPax ferry CIUDAD DE IBIZA to Arab Bridge Maritime. The 2003-built CIUDAD DE IBIZA, which has a capacity of 1,600 lane metres and accommodation for up to 200 drivers and passengers, is currently chartered to Baleària for services in the Canary Islands.
According to Spanish media, the charter will be terminated in connection with the sale to Jordan-headquartered Arab Bridge Maritime. The acquisition of CIUDAD DE IBIZA will increase Arab Bridge Maritime’s RoPax fleet to four vessels, in addition to a number of RoRo ships and high-speed ferries.
The company’s passenger services operate from Aqaba, Jordan’s principal port on the Red Sea, to Nuweiba and Taba in Egypt.
