In addition to improvements to shoreside infrastructure linked to specific ferry routes, the individual projects also include financial support for ferry newbuildings or tonnage acquisitions. Under the Passenger Ferry Program, this applies to the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority, Fishers Island Ferry District, Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, and United States Virgin Islands Department of Public Works.

Under the Low-Emitting Ferry Pilot (Low-No Ferry) Program, it applies to newbuildings for the Connecticut Department of Transportation, Delaware River and Bay Authority, Baltimore City Department of Transportation, New Jersey Transit Corporation on behalf of the Borough of Carteret, and Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation.

Under the Ferry Service for Rural Communities (Rural Ferry) Program, public funding will be provided for a newbuilding for the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (Alaska Marine Highway). A total of USD 153.407 million has specifically been allocated for a new vessel to replace the 1974-built LECONTE. As with the other publicly owned ferry operators receiving funding, Alaska Marine Highway has also been awarded support for several shoreside projects related to its ferry operations.
