DFDS to expand in Egypt with second weekly sailing

Ro-roA second weekly sailing from Trieste to Damietta in Egypt is due to start in October, when DFDS adds a newly chartered RoRo to its Mediterranean fleet. At present, the 26,525 GT GALLIPOLI SEAWAYS, with a capacity of 3,214 lanem, operates the route, arriving at and departing from Trieste on Mondays. It is understood that a sister ship will be added to the line, as the current sailings are full both south- and northbound.

DFDS's Mediterranean fleet is fully occupied, with the 18,725 GT, 2,308 lanem ARK FUTURA recently replaced by the 24,803 GT, 2,772 lanem SELANDIA SEAWAYS on the Marseille–Rades line. The fleet shuffle has also sent the 11,530 GT, 1,891 lanem BOTNIA SEAWAYS on military logistics duty, making a lengthy voyage to Mauritius via South Africa. It has been replaced on the Klaipeda–Køge–Fredericia route by the RoPax PATRIA SEAWAYS.
