AL HURREYA 3 enters service for UGR

Ro-roThe AL HURREYA 3 has finally entered service after construction started in 2015 in Alexandria Shipyard. Chartered by UGR, the quarter ramped vessel is presently sailing on a shuttle service between Aqaba and Jeddah.

With Hormuz and the southern Red Sea closed to most PCTCs, the Gulf States and Iraq are attempting to open new routes to import vehicles with Aqaba in Jordan recently becoming a node port for this traffic.

The 20,437 GT AL HURREYA 3 is owned by Egypt’s Triumph Shipping and has a length of 173.6 metres by 25.0 metres beam giving a 11,668 dwt on 7.7 metres draft. The vessel has three ro-ro decks accessed by fixed internal ramps and a quarter ramp aft. The vessel is reported to have a capacity of 103 trailers, 641 cars or 755 TEU. A single Wartsila 12V32 main engine of 12,000 kW output gives a 17 knot service speed.
