FinanceFinancially, 2024 was a positive year for Damen Shipyards Group (Damen), the Netherlands' largest shipbuilding group. Revenue remained just above EUR 3 billion. Net profit rose from EUR 43 million to EUR 58 million. The order book was filled with a record EUR 5.9 billion in new orders, rising to EUR 10.4 billion. Damen expects 2025 to be another financially positive year.
FerryThe SPIRIT OF TASMANIA V RoPax ferry built at the Rauma Shipyard, and her crew, started the voyage to Tasmania via Europe. The vessel was completed and officially delivered to the client, TT-Line Company PTY Ltd in June of this year. The two Spirit of Tasmania RoPax ferries, SPIRIT OF TASMANIA IV and SPIRIT OF TASMANIA V, were built in Rauma as the largest single export contract ever between Finland and Australia.
FerryA rise in passenger numbers over the summer season has been welcomed by Brittany Ferries. The company says it is on track for its third consecutive year of growth when year-end figures are published next spring. It has already smashed the two million barrier. Now however, it has published figures for its 2025 summer season by route. The data covers the months from June to September, and reveals an overall three percent increase in passengers carried on 12 routes. In total 1,200,522 people took to the sea on the so-called Atlantic Arc, 33,341 more than the previous summer.
FerryAS Tallink Grupp’s newest shuttle vessel MYSTAR has bunkered bio-LNG six times over the past few months. The liquefied natural gas, produced from renewable raw materials and supplied by Elenger, significantly reduces emissions from maritime transport and helps lower the environmental footprint in the Baltic Sea region.

FerryCaledonian MacBrayne’s (CalMac) latest fleet addition, GLEN SANNOX will be taken out of service on 5 November to be prepared for her first scheduled drydocking, since entering service in January this year. The ferry, which operates between Troon and Brodick, will initially go to the Inchgreen Dry Dock in Greenock to be prepared for her extended scheduled drydocking and refit which is scheduled to begin at the Cammell Laird shipyard in Birkenhead, on Merseyside on 10 November.
FinanceRoyal Caribbean Group reported strong third-quarter 2025 results, posting significant growth across revenue, earnings, and guest demand compared to the same period last year. The company’s continued recovery and operational efficiency have led it to raise its full-year outlook for 2025.
PortDuring the first three quarters of 2025, Port of Gothenburg saw a slight increase in RoRo traffic following a slower period. Car volumes declined by 9 percent, with European exports down 13 percent and U.S. exports down 21 percent, while imports rose modestly.

FerryOne of the oldest ferries operated by Scotland’s largest ferry operator Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac), the 1985-built RoPax HEBRIDEAN ISLES, started her final voyage from Glasgow on 27 October, bound for a ship recycling yard in Esbjerg, Denmark.
FerryThe agreement — a 132-page redacted document published by the Government of Jersey (GoJ) — mandates performance penalties, inflation-linked price controls, and exclusive harbour access for DFDS. While redactions shield sensitive financial details such as the performance bond, the pact promises enhanced capacity for passengers, cars, and freight, as well as new ships with deliveries between 2028 and 2031.
