From 15 October 2026, the enhanced schedule will provide customers with greater flexibility, more departures, and increased supply chain resilience.

The route was initially launched in November 2024 as DFDS' first direct RoRo connection between Egypt and Italy and has seen strong growth since its launch.

Lars Hoffmann, VP and Head of Mediterranean at DFDS, says:

"The addition of a second ferry is an important milestone for the route. Egypt is an increasingly important market and trade gateway connecting North Africa and Europe. By adding capacity and frequency, we are further strengthening an important trade corridor in our Mediterranean network and creating new opportunities for customers seeking efficient and reliable transport solutions."

The growing trade between North Africa and Europe continues to create demand for dependable transport solutions capable of handling both time-sensitive and high-volume cargo flows. Fresh fruit and vegetables, textiles, and industrial products are among the key goods transported on the route.

The second vessel, ARK FUTURA, reinforces DFDS' ability to support these supply chains.

Arif Akkoz, Route Director, Damietta-Trieste, says:

"With two ferries and twice-weekly departures in both directions, we can offer our customers greater flexibility, capacity and reliability. This strengthens our ability to better support our customers’ evolving supply chain needs and the growing trade flows between Egypt and Europe."

The service will operate with two weekly departures from the ports in Damietta and Trieste. Sailings will depart from Damietta on Mondays and Fridays, and from Trieste on Mondays and Thursdays.
