Charter extension helps with CalMac's tonnage puzzle
FerryThe chartered conventional catamaran ferry ALFRED will continue operating on CalMac’s Troon–Brodick route for a further three months.
The Pentland Ferries-owned ALFRED is therefore now secured for the route until 18 January 2027. According to the operator, this frees up GLEN SANNOX to cover Ullapool-Stornoway's freight service during LOCH SEAFORTH’s annual overhaul.
The 2024-built GLEN SANNOX, which has been assigned as a relief ferry, will carry test sailings for operating the freight service in early October, and if these go to plan, the ferry will operate this as ISLE OF LEWIS provides the regular service throughout LOCH SEAFORTH’s overhaul.
