
Two new expedition ships for Hapag-Lloyd Cruises
CruiseThe TUI Group is investing in two new buildings for their subsidiary Hapag-Lloyd Cruises. The two new 5-star expedition ships are to enter service in spring and autumn 2019.
The two ships will be built in the Vard shipyard in Norway, which also recently saw an order for expedition ships for Ponant.
They will have the highest ice class for passenger ships (PC6), for service in the polar regions, but also in hot water destinations such as the Amazon.
One ship will be used for German-speaking market. The second one for the German-speaking market in combination with the UK, Belgium, The Netherlands and the USA.
Hapag-Lloyd Cruises have a strong reputation on luxury expedition cruises and currently operate the HANSEATIC and the BREMEN.
