Fincantieri cuts first steel for Crystal newbuild CRYSTAL GRACE
CruiseFincantieri has held the first steel-cutting ceremony for CRYSTAL GRACE, the lead unit in a new series of high-end cruise ships ordered by Crystal, at its Marghera shipyard. Delivery is scheduled for spring 2028, with two sister ships to follow.
CRYSTAL GRACE will measure around 62,000 gross tonnes and carry 650 passengers, positioning the vessel firmly at the luxury end of the market. The ship has an overall length of 246.4 metres, a beam of 32.2 metres and a service speed of 19.5 knots.
Fincantieri highlights one of the highest crew-to-passenger ratios in the segment, supporting highly personalised service, generous public spaces, premium entertainment and immersive destination itineraries.
CRYSTAL GRACE is the first of three sister vessels on order at Fincantieri. The two follow-on units are scheduled for delivery in 2031 and 2032 respectively. The newbuilds will join Crystal's existing ocean fleet of CRYSTAL SERENITY (built 2003, 68,870 GT) and CRYSTAL SYMPHONY (built 1995, 51,044 GT).
The order confirms and deepens the long-standing relationship between Fincantieri and Crystal. In 2023, the group completed a major refit of CRYSTAL SERENITY and CRYSTAL SYMPHONY at the Arsenale Triestino San Marco, an extensive modernisation of public areas, guestrooms and suites alongside significant upgrades to onboard systems and environmental technologies.
