PortMillbay Docks in Plymouth, managed by Associated British Ports (ABP), celebrated the completion of a major infrastructure programme with the official opening of the upgraded Brittany Ferries terminal.
The GBP 23 million project, a collaboration between ABP, Brittany Ferries, and Plymouth City Council, with support from the Plymouth and South Devon Freeport, introduced:
- A state-of-the-art passenger boarding bridge for improved accessibility.
- A strengthened West Wharf to handle larger vessels and increased freight.
- A modernised terminal building with enhanced amenities.
- Upgraded freight and cruise infrastructure to boost sustainable growth.
The initiative, partly funded by GBP 1.3 million from the UK Government via the Freeport’s seed capital programme, underscores a commitment to trade, tourism, and sustainability. The terminal is already serving Brittany Ferries’ 2025 sailings, offering passengers an enhanced travel experience to Europe.
