POLSCA Baltic Ferries launches new Gdansk–Karlshamn route
FerryPOLSCA Baltic Ferries is expanding its Baltic Sea network with a new ferry service between Gdansk, Poland, and Karlshamn, Sweden, with the first sailing scheduled for 6 July 2026.
The new route strengthens ferry connections between Poland and southern Scandinavia, offering passengers and freight customers an additional, flexible link across the Baltic Sea. With Karlshamn joining the network, POLSCA Baltic Ferries will connect Poland with four Swedish ports: Karlshamn, Nynäshamn, Ystad and Trelleborg.
The Gdansk–Karlshamn service will support growing transport needs between Central Europe, Sweden, Denmark and southern Norway. For freight operators, the route opens up new possibilities for planning transport flows, including the option to enter Sweden through one port and return via another, depending on delivery destinations and operational requirements.
Karlshamn, on Sweden's south-eastern coast, offers direct access to the E22 transport corridor, with road connections towards Malmö, Copenhagen, Gothenburg and Oslo. Gdansk, one of Poland's largest ports and a key logistics gateway for Central Europe, reinforces the route's strategic role in regional transport.
The service will be operated by two vessels. SKANIA will serve as the main ferry, offering passenger accommodation, onboard facilities and freight capacity. COPERNICUS will complement the operation.
The initial timetable has been confirmed through 16 August 2026 and includes up to six sailings per week in each direction. Further sailings will be announced as the long-term schedule is progressively expanded.
"The launch of the Gdansk–Karlshamn service marks another important milestone in the development of POLSCA Baltic Ferries. Our objective is not only to open a new route, but to build an integrated ferry network that gives passengers and freight customers greater flexibility when travelling between Poland and Scandinavia. Karlshamn perfectly complements our existing Swedish gateways and strengthens our long-term growth strategy across the Baltic Sea," said Piotr Redmerski, Member of the Management Board of POLSCA Baltic Ferries.
