GNV ALTAIR to enter service on Algerian routes
FerryGNV announces a further step in the process of strengthening its fleet with the entry of GNV ALTAIR, the former JANAS of Moby. GNV ALTAIR will be operational from 21 February and will be deployed on the Algerian market on the Sète–Béjaia and Sète–Algiers routes, guaranteeing two rotations every week, one to Béjaia and one to Algiers.
"The entry of GNV ALTAIR is a further step in the growth path of our fleet," commented Matteo della Valle, GNV's Chief Commercial Officer. "We are continuing to invest to strengthen our presence in key markets and accompany the evolution of demand, with the aim of offering increasingly efficient connections on routes that are strategic for us."
Built in 2002 and previously in the fleet of the Moby Group, GNV ALTAIR stands out for its high transport capacity and significant operational performance, guaranteeing a maximum speed of 24 knots. The ship measures 214 meters in length and 26 meters in width, with a gross tonnage of 35,736 tons.
Designed to serve mixed passenger and freight traffic, GNV ALTAIR has 319 cabins and is able to accommodate up to 2,700 passengers, as well as offering 915 lane metres of cargo capacity.
Prior to its entry into service, GNV ALTAIR will undergo specific refitting interventions aimed at aligning the unit with GNV's quality and operational standards, with a particular focus on improving the passenger travel experience and the overall efficiency of the vessel.
GNV ALTAIR was part of the five-ship sale from Moby to SAS Shipping Agencies Services (MSC). MOBY AKI and MOBY WONDER are chartered back to Moby, while ATHARA, GNV ALTAIR (JANAS), and MOBY ALE DUE are available to GNV.
