Baleària to refurbish three ferries to improve comfort and onboard services
FerryBaleària Canarias will refurbish three vessels in its fleet over the next three months to improve the onboard customer experience and bring the ships into line with the Baleària group’s quality standards.
The initial work will cover improvements to interior and exterior spaces on the conventional RoPax VOLCÁN DE TINAMAR and the high-speed ferries VOLCÁN DE TAIDÍA and VOLCÁN DE TAGORO.
The refurbishments form part of the EUR 45 million investment programme the operator plans to undertake over the next three years to modernise its Canary Islands fleet.
Work on VOLCÁN DE TAIDÍA and VOLCÁN DE TAGORO, which operate the triangular route linking Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Morro Jable, will begin in mid-November and mid-December respectively. Both vessels will have their passenger and catering areas refurbished to provide more comfortable surroundings, while their hulls will receive Baleària Canarias’ corporate livery.
VOLCÁN DE TINAMAR, which operates between Cádiz and the Canary Islands, will be refurbished without any changes to its schedule. The work will continue the upgrades begun in the summer and includes refurbishing passenger areas with premium seating and improving onboard services generally.
“Through this refurbishment programme, Baleària Canarias aims to bring these acquired vessels up to the group’s quality standards, as exemplified by the new high-speed ferries MERCEDES PINTO and PEPITA CASTELLVÍ, which have received the highest customer ratings in the group’s fleet. Baleària Canarias’ fleet modernisation programme will continue over the coming months with work on other vessels,” Baleària Canarias states in a press release.
