Will Blu Navy ever operate the ferry between Corsica and Sardinia again?
FerryAfter a last crossing on October 31 it is unsure if Italian ferry company Blu Navy will ever come back on the one-hour route between Santa Teresa di Gallura (Sardinia) and Bonifacio (Corsica).
According to a report on French television channel FR3, Blu Navy's general manager Luca Morace said there were financial difficulties to keep the ferry. He envisaged a possible return next year if a solution could be found.
Blu Navy operated ferry ICHNUSA, which used to sail for the ill-fated Saremar, until this subsidised company was taken over by Delcomar. However, Delcomar did not want to keep the Corsica - Sardinia route.
The main issue is the lack of subsidies to keep the line open during the winter.
Moby Lines has always been a competitor on this route, but only during the high season.
