Toyota cuts scope 3 emissions by 22,000 tonnes using UECC low-carbon shipping
Ro-roToyota Motor Europe (TME) reduced its Scope 3 emissions by 22,148 tonnes of CO2e in 2024 by using low-carbon fuels under United European Car Carriers’ (UECC) Sail for Change programme. The savings were achieved by transporting nearly 55,000 vehicles on UECC vessels between August and December.
The reduction was independently verified by EnviroSense and confirmed as compliant with the EU's RED II sustainability criteria. UECC said TME is on track to more than double emissions savings in 2025, reaching 57,448 tonnes of CO2e on shipments from Turkey and the Czech Republic to Northern Europe.
UECC transports close to 200,000 Toyota vehicles annually and continues to invest in alternative fuels and new eco-friendly vessels to support lower-carbon maritime transport.
