Second Shaper-Class vessel delivered for EUKOR
Ro-roWallenius Wilhelmsen has taken delivery of ROYAL TERN from CMHI Jinling in China. ROYAL TERN is the second of seven 87,700 GT Shaper-Class PCTCs, each with a capacity of 9,300 CEU, ordered by Wallenius Wilhelmsen at the yard for operation by EUKOR.
The Shaper-Class series, which began with the delivery of ARCTIC TERN in July this year (described in detail in Shippax Info October 2026), currently comprises 14 vessels across two sizes and fuel configurations. The first seven, of which ROYAL TERN is the second, feature methanol dual-fuel propulsion and will be delivered through to the fourth quarter of 2027.
The remaining seven vessels, also from CMHI Jinling, are larger and will feature LNG dual-fuel propulsion. Their gross tonnage has been increased to 108,900, with a cargo capacity of 11,700 CEU. According to Shippax’s information, Wallenius Wilhelmsen is negotiating for at least four additional 11,700 CEU newbuildings. The seven firm orders in this size are scheduled for delivery through to the fourth quarter 2028.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen holds a majority stake in EUKOR, while Hyundai Motor Group, which includes Kia, is a minority shareholder in the PCTC operator.
