RFI - Strait of Messina newbuild contract with Barreras cancelled

FerryIn December 2021, Italian railway infrastructure manager Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) awarded the Spanish Barreras shipyard an EUR 74 million contract to design and construct the new dual fuel hybrid rail ferry for the Strait of Messina. This contract has now been cancelled and a new procurement procedure has been issued for yards to bid for.
