Polferries to move Swedish terminal to Stockholm Norvik on 8–9 November
FerryPolferries' Gdansk–Nynäshamn service will move from the ferry terminal in Nynäshamn to Stockholm Norvik Port on 8–9 November, Camilla Strümpel, director of strategy and communications at Ports of Stockholm, told the local newspaper Nynäshamns Posten. The move was planned for September but was postponed because of delays in the delivery of glazing for the passenger check-in booths at Norvik. Passengers who had already booked autumn crossings were also taken into account.
Ports of Stockholm says the timetable between Gdansk and Sweden will not change. Norvik lies less than five kilometres from Nynäshamn but away from the town centre, and foot passengers are to be taken by bus to Nynäshamn railway station for trains to Stockholm. Polferries' ships made trial calls at Norvik in the spring.
Norvik opened in 2020 with RoRo, ferry and container terminals, and Stena Line moved its Ventspils route there from Nynäshamn after the opening. Ports of Stockholm plans to concentrate freight at Norvik, where the RoRo berth is to be adapted for Destination Gotland's new large catamaran, due in 2029. The move will also free space in central Nynäshamn for residents and visitors.
