Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö acquires Rederi Ab Fjärdvägen from Rederi Ab Lillgaard
Ro-roRederiaktiebolaget Eckerö has agreed with Rederi Ab Lillgaard to acquire Rederi Ab Fjärdvägen. Rederi Ab Fjärdvägen operates the route Långnäs-Nådendal with the 1972-built FJÄRDVÄGEN. The deal includes the company with all personnel and assets, including FJÄRDVÄGEN.
– The Långnäs-Nådendal route fits perfectly into our strategy of providing 'floating bridges' on routes where sea transport is the natural and most sustainable solution. A connection between Åland and mainland Finland has in many ways been the missing link in our customer offering, a link that we can now add to our transport network," says Eckerö Group's CEO Björn Blomqvist.
Rederi Ab Lillgaard has operated the route since 1994, and since 2014 through its subsidiary Rederi Ab Fjärdvägen.
– The commercial conditions have steadily deteriorated in recent years, and the company's board has found it very challenging to continue operations as an independent company. We have concluded that the business must be part of a larger context. We are pleased to have found a stable Åland-based buyer for the business," says Rederi Ab Lillgaard's Chairman of the Board, Trygve Eriksson.
The ownership of the company and the business are planned to be transferred to the new owner on 18 August.
