Operator-owned ferries could be the way ahead for ferry services linking the Canadian Maritimes and Îles de la Madeleine

FerryFerry services linking the three Maritime provinces (the Canadian Maritimes) and the Îles de la Madeleine (Magdalen Islands) are currently in the hands of private companies that charter the ships from Transport Canada, with the charters often being renewed every year.
