Grimaldi adds capacity to Turkiye route
Ro-roRather than adding a 5th vessel to their successful Motorway of the Sea (MoS) service linking Trieste with Gemlik, located on the southern side of Marmara, and the port of Ambarli on the European side of Istanbul, Grimaldi have introduced the 7,800 lane metre 67,311 GT ECO ADRIATICA and now have four GG5G class ro-ro ships on the route, simultaneously reducing capacity on its Livorno – Savona – Barcelona - Valencia service.
The addition of the new ship boosts weekly capacity by 15% to 2,000 trailers/units in each direction. The modern vessels have the lowest carbon footprint per trailer in the business and are also equipped with large 5 MWh batteries and 350sqm of solar panels which can give zero emissions in port. The ECO ADRIATICA has switched places with the smaller 3,810 lane metre 32,840 GT EUROCARGO ROMA.
Departures from Trieste are on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays with westbound sailings from the Istanbul area scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays.
A weekly direct call is also made in Patras and Bari. The Italy – Spain routes now have three GG5Gs and one Eurocargo offering five sailings per week in each direction. The Venice – Bari – Patras line also has three GG5Gs with three weekly sailings and the remaining two giants are sailing between Genoa, Catania and Malta.
