The vessel is equipped with the latest WinGD 7X62 DF main engine with an output of 12,000 kW for an 18-knot service speed. Like its sisterships, the 73,337 GT COSMOS LEADER has 12 vehicle decks but only one is liftable, with a capacity of 6,900 CEU. The vehicle decks are fitted with AI-aided fire detection systems and the vessel has all the necessary bridge equipment to be operated autonomously. The 77,644 GT AZALEA LEADER was delivered at the end of July by Imabari's Tadotsu shipyard and is equipped with a single Everllence B&W 6S60ME-C GI main engine of 12,500 kW output.

NYK Line recently reported that its quarterly (April–June) profits from its large vehicle division were down JPY 12 billion to JPY 16.8 billion, due to higher bunker costs and the extra expenses caused by the closure of the Strait of Hormuz as well as port congestion. The company transported 1,110,000 vehicles in the period, 2% less than the same quarter of 2025. It operates 127 PCTCs in its fleet, of which 65 are owned and 62 chartered.
