LINK GALAXY on its way back to Norway

Ro-roNorwest Ship Management's 1991-built LINK GALAXY has been redelivered by Norse Shipyard in Turkey after a three-month conversion job and is now sailing back to the west coast of Norway. With the aim of improving its energy efficiency and capacity, the vessel was lengthened by 25.2m, boosting its lane-metre intake from 1,278 to over 1,650 lane metres.

Originally equipped with a lift to connect the main and weather decks, a fixed internal ramp has now been fitted. The vessel has also been retrofitted with an extra bow and stern thruster, new propeller blades and rudder which will significantly improve its CO2 emissions.

Many other systems have been renewed and upgraded to modernise the 35-year-old vessel. Norwest will position the vessel back on their W. Norway – Sweden – Poland – Denmark liner service which transports a wide variety of RoRo, breakbulk and container cargo as well as aluminium loaded mainly on cassettes.

Sistership LINK NOVA will shortly make its way to Turkey to undergo an identical conversion.
