Keel laid for IOMSPC’s new ro-pax MANXMAN at South Korea’s Hyundai Mipo Dockyard

FerryThe keel was laid for the Isle of Man Steam Packet Co’s (IOMSPC) new 133m ro-pax MANXMAN on 24 December at South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Mipo Dockyard, in Ulsan. In fact, the keel laying ceremony was the lifting into place of the first of 36 mega building blocks for the new ferry, placed on the dock floor of the yard’s Drydock No.4. weighing 215 tonnes. The positioning of the first block was quickly followed by a further two blocks which make-up the ro-pax’s forward engineroom.
