Italy designates three new Motorways of the Seas
Ro-roItaly’s Sea Modal Shift programme, previously known as Marebonus, has approved three new Italian Motorways of the Sea applications for routes that can contribute to the EU-programme’s goal of shifting freight transport from the road network to sea-based corridors.
According to a decree made by the Italian Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the three new maritime corridors are Grendi Trasporti Marittimi’s Cagliari–Marina di Carrara route, the Grimaldi Group’s Savona–Palma de Mallorca route, and a yet-to-be-established route from a currently unnamed operator between Gioia Tauro (in Italy’s southernmost region of Calabria) and Livorno.
