Holland Norway Lines on track to 190,000 passengers in its debut year

FerryHolland Norway Lines started its Eemshaven to Kristiansand operation in April of this year. The company announced that they are on track for close to 190,000 passengers in its debut year. The organisation aspires to be the preferred service between Norway and Europe, for both leisure travel and cargo. To achieve this, Holland Norway Lines has introduced several changes in its management team.

To enable and safeguard further growth, Holland Norway Lines has raised new equity from its current shareholders. The ferry service hopes to use these funds to further professionalise its organisation, expand its market share and continuously improve its passenger travel experience. "Holland Norway Lines wants to be the go-to service between Norway and Europe, for both leisure travel and cargo," boasts Morten Aggvin, recently appointed CEO of Holland Norway Lines.

Morten Aggvin takes helm as CEO of Holland Norway Lines
After heading up the Norwegian division of Holland Norway Lines since March, Morten Aggvin now steps in as CEO of the overall Holland Norway Lines Group. Aggvin, age 41, enjoys a long tenure in the shipping industry in roles such as CFO of Viking Supply Ships. He now takes the helm at a ferry company that recently rounded out its first year, but is already well established on the market, with three weekly return trips between the Norwegian city of Kristiansand and the Dutch seaport of Eemshaven. "We've been blown away by the response from people and transport companies, on both the Dutch and Norwegian sides. We're on track for almost 190,000 passengers by the end of the year," adds Aggvin. "Though passenger volumes are far better than forecast, costs – especially for fuel – also came out higher. Despite that, our debut year has exceeded expectations,' concludes Aggvin.

Morten Aggvin takes over from Bart Cunnen, co-founder of Holland Norway Lines along with Patrick America. Cunnen will remain onboard as Managing Director of the Dutch division of the organisation, focusing on commercial projects. Wilbert Boneschansker has joined the team as the new CFO. The addition of Boneschansker will reinforce the Finance Department and prime the company for further growth. Boneschansker has served in numerous CFO roles over his career, including at Groningen Seaports for the last 16 years.
