Waves injure passengers and crew on Color Line's Sandefjord–Strömstad crossing
FerrySeveral passengers and crew members were injured when a Color Line ferry was hit by three large waves on the crossing from Sandefjord to Strömstad on 26 October, VG reports. The ferry left Sandefjord at 10:00, and the waves struck at about 10:45. Shippax AIS data shows that the ship on the sailing was COLOR HYBRID.
Passengers fell, and glass and crockery were broken. Color Line sales manager Nina Moland Andersen told VG that a few passengers and crew members suffered minor injuries and that no one was seriously hurt. Telemarksavisa reports four confirmed injured. Several ambulances met the ship on arrival in Strömstad.
Andersen said the ship was hit by sudden heavy seas, that the weather forecast had been acceptable and that it was safe to sail. Some interior fittings were damaged, but the ship is in good condition, she said. The sailing was not among the Color Line departures cancelled because of Storm Boelo. Color Line will contact the passengers who were on board and offer them a new trip.
