Grimaldi takes delivery of GRANDE INGHILTERRA
Ro-roThe naming and delivery ceremony of the GRANDE INGHILTERRA was held in Shanghai. Built by China Merchants Heavy Industries Jiangsu, she is the eleventh ammonia-ready PCTC for the Grimaldi Group.
Like her sisters GRANDE SHANGHAI, GRANDE SVEZIA, and GRANDE MICHIGAN, the new vessel offers high cargo capacity and significantly reduced environmental impact thanks to innovative design and advanced technologies.
Across 14 decks, she can carry up to 9,000 CEU, including both electric and fossil-fuel vehicles. Thanks to green technologies such as solar panels, mega lithium batteries, and cold ironing readiness, the GRANDE INGHILTERRA reduces fuel consumption by 50% compared to previous-generation car carriers.
The ship’s name honours the Grimaldi Group’s long-standing presence in England. The naming ceremony was attended by Mei Zhonghua (CMHI) and Luigi Pacella Grimaldi (Grimaldi Group), with Wang Qiuxiang from BAIC Foton International serving as godmother.
“Investing in cutting-edge vessels like the GRANDE INGHILTERRA supports the energy transition in maritime transport while delivering high-quality services,” said Emanuele Grimaldi, Managing Director of the Grimaldi Group.
The vessel is now ready for her maiden voyage from Taicang (China) to Suape (Brazil) and Antwerp (Belgium), carrying 6,500 cars and 800 linear metres of rolling cargo.
