Fred. Olsen Express transports more than one million tonnes of freight in two years

Ro-roFred. Olsen Cargo Express, the shipping company’s dedicated maritime freight division, has transported more than one million tonnes and 140,000 lane metres of freight since the service was launched in May 2024. This growth has been driven by the addition of BRENAS CARGO in July 2025.

The third RoRo vessel in the fleet, with a deadweight of 7,382 tonnes, can carry up to 1,500 lane metres and has just completed its first year in service. The company points out that the strengthening of the freight services, formalised two years ago through the creation of the dedicated Cargo Express division, reflects its firm commitment to meeting growing demand for the transport of dry goods, refrigerated cargo and special loads to and from the Canary Islands.

The initiative enables the company to offer logistics solutions that are more efficient, secure, and tailored to market requirements. Fred. Olsen Express’s freight division is a key element of the company’s connectivity strategy. It builds on the freight operations conducted aboard its passenger vessels for many years and reinforces its commitment to the economic development of the Canary Islands.

BRENAS CARGO entered service in July 2025, joining the RoRo vessels BENTAYGA CARGO and BAHIA CARGO, which have been operating since 2024. Their geographical coverage enables time and resources to be managed more efficiently.
