CM HONG KONG was the first ship to bunker green methanol in Hong Kong
Ro-roHong Kong has taken an important step in maritime decarbonization. On 5 March 2026, the methanol dual fuel CM HONG KONG successfully completed the port’s first green methanol bunkering operation, receiving about 500 tonnes of certified green methanol via a ship-to-ship transfer.
The bunkering was carried out by the methanol-capable bunkering vessel DA QING 268, demonstrating Hong Kong’s operational capability to support alternative marine fuels. Under Hong Kong’s Green Maritime Fuel Bunkering Action Plan, the city aims to increase the share of green fuels used by Hong Kong-registered ships to 7% by 2030, while positioning itself as a leading green marine fuel bunkering hub in Asia.
After the bunkering, the 2025-built PCTC with a capacity of 9,300 CEU sat the course towards Europe via Suez.
