Atlas Maritime reports that CLEAN STAR has been fixed on a two-year charter at USD 80,000 per day to Ningbo Ocean Shipping Co (NBOSCO), representing a record for Atlas Maritime, which operates in the market in partnership with EMF (European Maritime Finance).

The fixture marks a bold move into deepsea RoRo transportation for NBOSCO, one of the most dynamic Chinese liner companies. Having already established themselves as one of the fastest growing container operators, now in China's top three, NBOSCO want to gain a share of the rapidly increasing vehicle export market from China. The vessel has loaded a full cargo of 5,400 electric vehicles at the Meixi terminal in Ningbo-Zhoushan port, located just south of Shanghai. It is very likely that the company will charter more vessels in the near future and even order PCTCs for their own account.

The 68,903 GT and 19,260 dwt CLEAN STAR was completed by the CIMC Raffles shipyard in Longkou. The vessel is a SDARI standard design 7,000 CEU PCTC with 12 decks, of which four are liftable. An Everllence B&W 6S60ME-C GI dual fuel main engine of 13,300 kW gives a service speed of 19 knots. The vessel is equipped with two 1,650m³ LNG tanks.
