CalMac’s new Islay ferries to be built in Poland, Romania or Turkey

FerryScottish government-owned Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd (CMAL), the company that owns the fleet of ferries operated by Caledonian MacBrayne (CalMac) has shortlisted four shipyards in Poland, Romania and Turkey to build the two ferries for CalMac’s lifeline service from the Scottish mainland to the island of Islay. Originally there was to have been just one newbuilding.
