CalMac charters ARROW for the Stornoway–Ullapool route
Ro-roCalMac has sub-chartered the 1,050 lanemetre ARROW from DFDS. The 1998-built Isle of Man Steam Packet Company-owned RoRo vessel will be used to secure the necessary freight capacity on CalMac’s Stornoway–Ullapool route while the route’s regular ferry, the RoPax LOCH SEAFORTH, undergoes a scheduled docking from 19 October to 15 November.
Passenger capacity on the Stornoway–Ullapool route during this period will be provided by CalMac’s ISLE OF LEWIS, which will be brought in from the Oban–Castlebay route.
“Using ARROW in this way allows us to keep freight and passenger services running smoothly while optimising fleet deployment across the network. It also provides some additional resilience ahead of the unpredictable winter season - good news for both our operations and the communities that rely on us”, a spokeswoman from CalMac said to locale media WeLoveStornoway.com
