BALTIC QUEEN to be withdrawn from service for planned maintenance in February 2026

FerryTallink Silja Line's BALTIC QUEEN vessel, which operates on the Tallinn–Stockholm route, will be taken out of service on 1 February for a two-week docking visit. During the stay at the shipyard in Naantali, Finland, the main part of the work will focus on the ship's technical systems. In addition, the hull will be coated with an innovative antifouling paint that reduces water resistance.

During docking, in addition to renewal of the antifouling paint, maintenance of thrusters is also carried out, as well as inspection of anchor chains, testing of winches and service of stabilizers. A significant part of the docking work also relates to the ship's auxiliary systems, where ventilation and drinking water systems are cleaned and maintained.

"To keep our vessels in good condition, continuous maintenance is important. In addition to the regular maintenance carried out by the crew, more extensive efforts are required every few years to preserve and renew the ship's underwater parts and tanks. The work includes overhauling seals and valves and renewing the innovative paint coating on the hull, which reduces water resistance and contributes to lower fuel consumption," says Tarvi-Carlos Tuulik, Commander of Tallink Group.

As several passenger compartments were updated during the longer docking period in 2023, the scope of this year's work is smaller. However, the passenger sauna will be renovated, some cabins will be fitted with new carpeting and flooring work will be carried out in other passenger areas.

BALTIC QUEEN will depart for Naantali on 1 February and return to Tallinn on 13 February. On 14 February, the first departure from Stockholm will take place after docking.

During the BALTIC QUEEN’s docking period, travel between Sweden and Estonia can be made with SUPERFAST IX on the Paldiski–Kapellskär route. The ship has four departures per week during the period, and the travel time amounts to about nine hours. At the same time, travel between Stockholm and Helsinki is maintained through daily departures with SILJA SERENADE and SILJA SYMPHONY.

Tallink Grupp regularly carries out maintenance of its vessels in accordance with international regulations and the highest standards in the shipping industry. The technical maintenance periods meet the current requirements for the ship's bottom to be regularly checked during drying. BALTIC QUEEN was last docked in Naantali, Finland, in September 2023.
