Bahri announces more details of ConRo order
Ro-roMore details have emerged of the recent order for two ConRos at China Merchants Jinling shipyard. Bahri, the national shipping company of Saudi Arabia, placed an order for two 54,476 GT ConRos with an option for two more.
The contract price was reported to be close to USD 100 million per vessel. Larger than the six ConRos forming their existing fleet, which was built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard (HMD), the new ships will be equipped with a dual fuel main engine.
Conceptually, the new design is close to the existing Knud E Hansen concept with RoRo decks aft, accessed by a quarter ramp/door. The vessels will also have a forward hold for container or heavy lift cargoes, with a pair of side mounted cranes.
The vessels are due for delivery in March and June 2029.
