Rederiaktiebolaget Eckerö reports record interim results for January–September 2025
FinanceRederiaktiebolaget Eckerö has reported its interim results for the period 1 January to 30 September 2025, achieving record volumes and strong financial performance. Revenue increased to EUR 181.1 million, up 5% from EUR 171.7 million in 2024, while operating profit reached EUR 21.6 million, the highest ever for this period. Adjusted for the sale of SHIPPER in January 2024, operating profit improved by EUR 4.5 million compared with the previous year. Profit for the period totalled EUR 16.0 million, also a record, and the company held a net cash surplus of EUR 19.6 million, meaning its liquid assets exceed its interest-bearing debt.
Operationally, the company handled 156,965 freight units, up 12% on 2024, and carried 2,489,602 passengers, an increase of 3% compared with last year. On the Finland–Estonia route, Eckerö maintained a 28% passenger market share and a 46% freight market share, while on the Åland–Sweden route it held a passenger market share of over 80%.
During the period, Eckerö made strategic moves, acquiring Rederi Ab Fjärdvägen on 18 August, including the vessel FJÄRDVÄGEN, which now operates under Eckerö Link Ab on the Långnäs–Nådendal route. This acquisition aligns with the company’s strategy of offering “floating bridges” where sea transport is the most sustainable option. At the same time, the company sold its last remaining RoRo vessel, TRANSPORTER, on 15 August to Godby Shipping.
