Record-breaking summer for Wasaline
FerryWasaline continues to show record figures in traffic between Vaasa, Finland and Umeå, Sweden. The summer of 2023 has been very successful in terms of passenger and vehicle volumes. However, freight volumes have decreased somewhat due to the economic downturn.
In July 2023 Wasaline carried 67,000 passengers, an increase of almost 7%. Passenger volumes in June also exceeded the previous year. When comparing the period between January to July 2023 with 2022, passenger volumes are up by 12.5%. AURORA BOTNIA transported 17,629 passenger vehicles. The number of buses also increased and has now more than doubled compared to the previous year. However, transportation of freight decreased by about 9%.
"We are very satisfied with the summer so far, and the booking status for August looks promising as well. I want to thank our excellent staff for their fantastic work both onboard and ashore. I feel very proud of the positive feedback we have received, especially regarding food and service", says Peter Ståhlberg, Managing Director of Wasaline.
