RCL moves into the ultra-luxury cruise and expedition sector by taking a 66.7% stake in Silversea

FinanceIn a major development for the cruise market, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL) is to move into the luxury segment of the business, for both cruise vessels and expedition vessels, by taking a 66.7% stake in privately-owned Silversea Cruises. Described as the ‘Crown Jewel’ partnership, the move by RCL not only strengthens its own brands but also propels the growth of the industry’s leading luxury and expedition operator Silversea.
