News in pictures: BVT delivers a 30m section for PRIMULA SEAWAYS
During the weekend BVT (Brenn- und Verformtechnik Bremen/Bremerhaven) delivered the intersection which will be needed to lengthen the DFDS ro-ro vessel PRIMULA SEAWAYS.
The piece of hull rolled out from BVT's newly acquired steel construction hall, and was transferred to the heavy lift pontoon OFFSHORE BHV 1. The floating combination was then towed to the Kaiserhafen.
PRIMULA SEAWAYS is expected to arrive in Bremerhaven on July 7. In Lloyd Werft's floating Dock 3 she will be cut, first vertically and then horizontally to about three meters below the bridge house. Using this method, the shipyard wants to avoid that ramps must be separated at difficult and time-consuming points.
The PRIMULA SEAWAYS Is expected to leave the yard again on August 9, one month after its arrival. She will then be 229,80m instead of 199,80m.
She will have 4,650 lane meters (instead of 3,831), or a capacity for 307 trailers, which means an increase in the cargo capacity by 25%.
