Naikai Zosen delivered a 120-metre ro-pax to Taiwan
FerryA new ro-pax ferry for Taiwan Navigation was delivered by Japan’s Naikai Zosen Setoda shipyard. The new ro-pax named PENGHU entered service between Kaohsiung, Taiwan and Magong, Penghu Island on 14 August.
PENGHU measures about 119.99 meters, with a beam of 21.00 meters and draft of 8.00 meters. She can carry up to 632 passengers, as well as 80 cars, four buses, containers, etc. Two Daihatsu 8DKM-36e type diesel engines (4,400kW x 2) provide a service speed of 19.3 knots.
Naikai Zosen are currently also building the 77-metre FERRY OSUMI 11 and 12 for Nankai Yusen, ready for delivery at the end of the year. Two LNG-powered 200-metre ro-paxes will be delivered in 2025 to Ferry Sunflower and a 132-metre sistership to AOI will be delivered to Jumbo Ferry in 2025.
