Liverpool planning new cruise terminal
English cruise ports are booming and authorities in Liverpool have approved a GBP950,000 feasibility study into a new terminal development.
Liverpool's existing cruise berth opened nine years ago with the aim of securing day calls and with a temporary passenger facility added in 2012 the city now also attracts turnaround as well as transit business.
This year the River Mersey terminal is scheduled to handle 61 vessels and 76,000 passengers who are able to disembark directly onto the city's world famous, UNESCO World Heritage Site waterfront.
Liverpool City Council's Cabinet has set out next steps in the development plan and the need for detailed investigations which will be led by a consortia of technical specialists including Ove Arup & Partners, Royal Haskoning DV, Tuner and Townsend and KKA Architects.
