The car-carrier (PCTC) fleet generated operating revenue of RMB 3.680 billion (in EUR: 470.2 million.), an increase of 98.50% year-on-year. Its gross margin rose to 34.10%, reflecting a continued improvement in profitability.

China’s vehicle exports maintained their rapid growth during the first half of 2026, becoming an important driver of demand for specialised shipping services. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, China exported 5.096 million vehicles during the first half of the year, including 2.355 million new-energy vehicles.

In June alone, exports reached 1.037 million vehicles, an increase of 75.1% year-on-year and the first time that China’s monthly vehicle exports had exceeded one million units. New-energy vehicle exports totalled 523,000 units during the month, representing a year-on-year increase of 160% and growth significantly exceeding that recorded for conventional combustion-engine vehicles.

In response to strong market demand, COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers made full use of two vehicle-transport solutions: dedicated car carriers and new-generation multipurpose vessels equipped with vehicle racks. The company established a transshipment corridor through the Red Sea and developed a customised solution for the expedited shipment of vehicles to Brazil, enabling it to respond efficiently to the transport requirements of automotive manufacturers. Both transport volumes and gross margins increased within the company’s car-carrier business.

During the reporting period, the company transported 394,600 vehicles, an increase of 63% year-on-year. Of these, 333,300 were carried aboard car carriers, an increase of 75%, while 61,300 were transported aboard multipurpose vessels using vehicle racks, an increase of 44%.
