CM RoRo to take delivery of two 7,800 CEU methanol PCTCs
Ro-roCM RoRo will gain two new 7,800 CEU PCTCs in the next few weeks after they were floated out from their building docks on 29 June and 1 July. The CM WUHAN will be delivered from the CMS Jiangsu shipyard and its sistership, the CM GUANGZHOU, from CMS Jinling. The Deltamarin-designed 76,400 GT vessels have a length of 199.9m by 37.7m beam.
The vessels are equipped with dual-fuel methanol propulsion, comprising an Everllence B&W 7S60ME-C LGIM main engine, which is equipped with both an EGR and SCR system. When bunkering green methanol, the reduction in GHG emissions is expected to be more than 70%. They are also equipped with a medium-voltage shore power connection.
Another pair of sisters will be delivered later this year from the same shipyards. The four new vessels will boost China Merchants RoRo's fleet at a strategic time, following the signing of an important cooperation agreement with Anji International Logistics. This will benefit Anji, gaining international RoRo capacity at a critical time when exports of new vehicles from China are booming.
As part of CM RoRo's fleet renewal process, parent China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES) sold the 37,237 GT PCTC CHANG SHENG HONG to another Chinese owner, Shan Hai Yuan Hang, for a reported price of CNY 286 million (approximately USD 42 million). The 4,310 CEU capacity PCTC, equipped with three liftable decks, was built by Uljanik Shipyard in 2000, and was previously named the DRESDEN before being purchased by CMES in July 2017. The extraordinary price reflects the present state of the tight car carrier market.
