Türkiye – Trieste traffic increases due to Grimaldi effect
Ro-roThe latest H1 2026 traffic figures from the Port of Trieste reveal a positive gain of 5.37% in trailer volumes, reaching 163,752 units. DFDS revealed that they have maintained their volumes but the RoRo share of the total Turkey – EU traffic has increased to 54%, with the remaining 46% travelling by road via Greece or Bulgaria.
DFDS stated that their share of the total was 34%, significantly more than either Grimaldi or Ulusoy. Grimaldi maintains their Trieste – Ambarli – Gemlik connection with four RoRo ships, three of which are 7,800 lanemetres GG5G sisters and the fourth is the 3,810 lanemetres EUROCARGO ROMA.
