BRAHE sold to Norway?
The 1943-built Finnish cruise ship BRAHE looks set to return to Norwegian waters soon where it operated for 25 years as the passenger ferry SUNNHORDLAND between 1949 and 1974.
Norwegian businessman Kjell Fylkesnes has been quoted saying he recently acquired the vessel and was soon due to inspect her in Tallinn before her imminent takeover.
BRAHE will then be retained as an active cruise vessel, being offered for charter and themed cruises in Norwegian domestic waters. Currently, the ship operates short “visa-free” cruises in the Saimaa Canal between Lappeenranta and Vyborg, replacing the damaged day-cruiser CARELIA. However, BRAHE’s owner Saimaa Travel so far has not commented on or confirmed the sale.
