World’s first battery-swapping robot for fast ferries installed at Nesoddtangen, Norway
High-speedNorled has now begun the installation of the first SHIFTR, a battery-swapping robot that will be used on the fast ferries in the Norwegian Oslofjord. Installation and testing will continue throughout the autumn, after which battery-swapping trials on BARONESSEN will also begin.
BARONESSEN was lengthened by 10 metres and converted to fully electric operation by Brødrene Aa in 2024.
SHIFTR provides slow charging of batteries while at the quay and rapid battery swaps when BARONESSEN is in operation.
