TS Laevad Advances Green and Digital Ferry Operations with Shore Power Tests and Digital Logbooks
FerryTS Laevad has launched a two-week shore power test at the Port of Virtsu and transitioned to fully digital logbooks across its fleet. The shore power trial, in collaboration with Shore Link OÜ, assesses the feasibility of connecting ferries like PIRET to land-based electricity, paving the way for future battery-powered operations. Despite the delay of a fifth hybrid ferry from 2024 to 2028, these tests ensure port and crew readiness for greener technologies. As of 22 April 2025, TS Laevad replaced paper logbooks with a digital system developed with Blueflow Energy Management AB, enhancing operational efficiency and supporting environmental goals, as highlighted by Guldar Kivro, TS Laevad board member.
