The Fjords acquires VÅR from Brødrene Aa

High-speedThe Fjords is expanding its fleet with a new zero-emission vessel named VÅR, initially intended for Norled. Built by renowned Norwegian shipyard Brødrene Aa, the battery electric ferry will operate on the iconic Nærøyfjorden, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Featuring Brødrene Aa's innovative Aero-design for low weight and high energy efficiency, VÅR offers silent, emission-free propulsion and can carry 300 passengers.

The vessel includes spacious outdoor decks, panoramic viewing areas, a modern lounge, and a café, delivering an enhanced sightseeing experience while protecting the fragile fjord environment.

This marks The Fjords' third all-electric vessel on the route, following its pioneering shift to zero-emission operations since 2020. The addition will boost summer capacity, enable more daily departures, and support year-round tourism development.

Delivery is planned for the 2026 season.
