STENA FUTURA during sea trials
Stena Line’s methanol-ready hybrid RoRo vessel STENA CONNECTA completes sea trials
Ro-roSTENA CONNECTA, the second of two new NAOS-designed 147-metre methanol-ready hybrid RoRo vessels destined for the Irish Sea, has successfully completed its sea trials at the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard, Weihai, China.
First of the two sisters, STENA FUTURA was delivered at the end of June and has now entered service on the Belfast-Heysham route, while STENA CONNECTA will follow in early 2026.
The ships will enhance freight capacity by 40% on the Belfast-Heysham route in response to an increase in customer demand for services between Northern Ireland and Great Britain.
The two vessels, which are ‘methanol-ready’, will play a key role in Stena Line’s sustainability journey. They are further enhanced with built-in technologies that will be able to utilise both battery propulsion and shore power, when available. STENA CONNECTA will also be delivered as “rotor sail ready,”.
